The Soup\, Salad and Science lectures includes six different lectures that will take on Thursday evening from 5:30-7:30 pm\, beginning September 14\, at the River Falls Public Library. Invited guest speakers will present the public lectures on a variety of topics with a follow-up discussion.\n\nPlace: Library Lower Level\n\nTime: 5:30-7:30pm\n\n\n\nDates:\nDevelopment and application of 3D tissue engineering for modeling cancer cell behaviors\, tumor tissue generation\, progression and metastasis. \n\nSeptember 20\, 2018\n\n5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.\n\nDr. Timothy Lyden will discuss the field of tissue engineering\, including in-vitro artificial tissue development and the use of these methods and techniques for studying cancer biology\, melanoma and breast cancer.\n\n \n\nCSI Foodborne Illness Outbreaks: What you don't know can hurt you.\n\nOctober 18\, 2018\n\n5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.\n\nIncreasingly\, more and more food products are making people sick. No food product\, it seems\, is immune. Presenter Shawn Stevens will talk about the mistakes food companies are making which are causing foodborne illness outbreaks\, and the advanced tools that public health investigators are now using to solve them.\n\n \n\nThe Mars trip\, what you should know before you book\n\nNov 15\, 2018\n\n5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.\n\nLearn about the science behind the great difficulties and dangers of sending humans on a journey to the planet Mars. Dr. John Shepherd will tell us why this is way more costly and dangerous than going to the Moon.
