SUMMARY:St Croix Valley Employers Association Employment Law Wednesday Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, September 9th\, 2020\n \n \n \n \n \n	\n\n\n \n \n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n Rethinking discipline: A tool to improve workplace performance and shield from liability\n \n \n \n \n \n	\n\n\n \n \n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n There has been a shift in thinking about discipline not as a means to punish\, but instead as a means to improve the workplace by making the environment efficient\, safe\, and pleasant. While there are times that conduct may lead to immediate termination\, this discussion will focus on lesser conduct necessitating the creation of a tailored performance improvement plan (PIP) to guide employees to being more effective. We will discuss the kind of information to include (and not include) in a PIP including measurable goals in order to modify conduct. If the employee can successfully complete the plan\, then with a small amount of effort you were able to turn the employee around. If the employee cannot\, and you know you had a solid plan to start\, then you can be more certain that you will not face legal liability for a termination decision or find yourself needing to pay out a significant severance. All attendees of this live session will receive a sample attorney-drafted performance improvement plan that they can take back to their workplace. \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n\n\n \n \n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Speaker:\n\n Lida Bannink\, Attorney Eckberg Lammers\n\n \n\n \n\n Lida Bannink is a shareholder with Eckberg Lammers and the lead attorney in our Labor & Employment as well as a litigator in our business and individual law groups. She places a special emphasis on counseling employers\, both businesses and municipalities\, on how to manage the complex web of laws and regulations to support their entities' human resource needs. When called upon to litigate\, she is a strong advocate in the courtroom. \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n\n\n \n \n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n\n\n \n \n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n Wednesday\, September 16th\, 2020\n \n \n \n \n \n	\n\n\n \n \n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n Diversity and Inclusion: Eliminating Unconscious Bias and Hidden Barriers\n \n \n \n \n \n	\n\n\n \n \n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n Diversity and inclusion are no longer just buzzwords among human resource professionals\; actualizing diversity and inclusion has become a mandate for successful business operations. Even so\, the "how" is not always clear. This session will address how to identify and remove unconscious bias barriers and implement systemic changes within the workplace to achieve defined diversity and inclusion goals.\n \n \n \n \n \n	\n\n\n \n \n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n Speakers:\n\n Jennifer Nodes\, Principal & \n\n Hadley Simonett\, Associate Jackson Lewis P.C. \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n\n\n \n \n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jennifer A.
