Description
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, to honor survivors and to take a stand against violence in our communities St. Croix Valley Sexual Assault Response Team and Turningpoint for Victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence have teamed up and planned River Falls’ 1st Annual Take Back the Night Event. (TBTN) The event has been created for people who have been affected by sexual violence and for supporters who agree that sexual violence should not be tolerated in our communities.
Take Back the Night, “Let’s Talk About It” 2012: TBTN is an international phenomenon that began in the early 1970's in response to sexual assaults and violence against women. The movement has grown to encompass all forms of interpersonal violence against any person. Our mission for this event is to raise awareness in our community about the issue of sexual violence and to let it be known that this violence or violence of any kind will not be tolerated in our community or anywhere else.
The night will start off with a rally. Supporters can participate in poster making, designing of T-shirts for the clothes line project, music, and food. We will march down Main Street and end the evening with a candle light vigil and open mic. Time event starts: 6:00 pm
